Almirida

Almirida is some 22 km east of Chania and 3 km off the old National Road to Rethymnon; a sandy beach, protected from the north winds, well organized.

Balos

Balos is some 10 km north of Kalyviani, and 58 km west of Chania, at the north side of the Gramvousa Peninsula. The lagoon of Balos is one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean. The sandy beach is in the inlet of the homonymous cove, has shallow emerald green waters and is protected from the north winds. Outside the lagoon, the sea is deep and crystal clear and ideal for snorkeling. There are no accommodation facilities, free camping is however allowed.

Accessible: from Kastelli by boat or from Kalyviani by 4-wheel-drive car or motorbikes via a 10 km dirt road and from there on foot. If you choose to walk from Kalyviani, it’s a 3 hour walk.

Falasarna

Falasarna is some 59 km west of Chania, and 19 km from Kastelli; a small sandy beach, affected by the north winds, not organized at all. There are no facilities available.

Falasarna Beside Port

Falasarna Beside Port is some 56 km west of Chania beside a small port, affected by the north and west winds, , and 16 km from Kastelli; a pebble beachnot very organized.

Falasarna South

Falasarna South is some 57 km west of Chania, and 17 km from Kastelli; a small sandy beach affected by the north and west winds, with a rocky seabed, ideal for snorkeling. The beach is not organized at all and there are no facilities available.

Georgioupoli

Nea Chora

Nea Chora is located in the city of Chania, west of the Venetian walls; a sandy beach with shallow waters, affected by the north winds and very popular with the locals. The beach is well organized. Further to the west is a long sandy stretch without facilities and less crowded.

Pachia Ammos

Pachia Ammos is some 58 km west of Chania, and 18 km from Kastelli; a long, sandy beach affected by the west and northwest winds and well organized. Make sure to stay for one of the marvelous sunsets the beach has to offer.

Ravdoucha with is some 10 km west of Kolymbari; a quiet, pebbly beachtamarisk trees, affected by the winds, not very organized. The beach has a rocky seabed and is thus ideal for snorkeling.

Sfinari

Sfinari is some 20 km southwest of Kastelli and 61 km from Chania; a pebbly beach with a few tamarisk trees, affected by the north winds and not very organized. Ideal for snorkeling. A few kilometers north at the end of a dirt road is another remote beach with no facilities at all which is ideal for camping.

Stavros
